ScaleRx

A note from Sid Baysinger, President of Tankless Pros AZ, LLC
“I highly recommend adding a ScaleRx to any water heater type, throughout the
Phoenix area and surrounding communities.”
What is ScaleRx & What Does It Do?
ScaleRx is a maintenance-free limescale inhibitor that protects your water heater, piping, and plumbing fixtures from Arizona’s hard water. Using patented Turbulent Galvanic Polarization (TGP) technology, it changes how minerals crystallize so they no longer stick to heating elements, heat exchangers, pipes, or fixtures.
Independent testing by IAPMO R&T shows ScaleRx prevents 76% of scale buildup. This means fewer mineral deposits throughout your system, better efficiency, longer equipment life, and reduced service needs. Over time, it can also help loosen and flush out existing scale that has already formed.
Why it makes sense in Arizona: Hard water is one of the biggest threats to water heaters and plumbing in the Valley. Adding a ScaleRx at the time of installation is a simple, no-power, no-chemicals, no-filter upgrade that helps your new water heater (and the rest of your plumbing) run cleaner and last longer.
Having us install a ScaleRx with your new water heater is one of the smartest protections you can add.

After just 1-year from new installation

ScaleRx Testing Results
The primary independent testing report that ScaleRx (American Valve) cites is IAPMO R&T Lab Report 2475-17001 (issued September 29, 2017).
ScaleRx is tied to the IPS Kalyxx technology from Swiss Aqua Technologies (this device appears together on IAPMO listings as “IPS Kalyxx/ScaleRX”).
The report covers scale-reduction performance on heating elements.
Key Report Details
-
Report Number: 2475-17001
-
Issued: September 29, 2017
-
Client: Swiss Aqua Technologies SK s.r.o. (Switzerland/Slovakia)
-
Sample: IPS Sirius / IPS Kalyxx (PEX-Al-PEX multilayer pipe with plated silver electrodes and Ti/Zn electrodes designed for turbulence/ionisation)
-
Testing Dates: August 29 – September 14, 2017 (11-day test)
-
Location: Manufacturer’s laboratory in Prešov, Slovakia (witnessed by IAPMO personnel Robert Schut)
-
Scope: Determine the reduction of limescale deposit on water-heater heating elements using the manufacturer’s comparative protocol
Test Setup
Four parallel 50-litre tanks (45 litres of water each):
-
Line 1: Stainless-steel heating element, untreated
-
Line 2: Stainless-steel heating element + IPS Kalyxx
-
Line 3: Copper heating element, untreated
-
Line 4: Copper heating element + IPS Kalyxx
Water was exchanged multiple times daily (≈120 litres/day on weekdays) to simulate use. Average conditions:
-
Hot water temperature ≈ 65.2 °C (65.0–65.5 °C)
-
Cold water temperature ≈ 17.2 °C
-
Hardness ≈ 17.9 °dH (17.51–18.06 °dH)
At the end of the test, the scale was mechanically scraped from the elements and weighed.
Results (Scale Deposited)
Line Description Scale Weight (g)
-
Stainless steel, untreated 0.7133
-
Stainless steel + IPS Kalyxx 0.1759
-
Copper, untreated 4.7843
-
Copper + IPS Kalyxx 1.1336
Calculated reductions:
-
Stainless-steel heating element: 75.3% reduction
-
Copper heating element: 76.3% reduction
American Valve marketing consistently cites the ≈76% / 76.3% figure from this report for ScaleRx performance on copper heating elements.
