What is ScaleRx & What Does It Do?

ScaleRx Testing Results

The primary independent testing report that ScaleRx (American Valve) cites is IAPMO R&T Lab Report 2475-17001 (issued September 29, 2017).

ScaleRx is tied to the IPS Kalyxx technology from Swiss Aqua Technologies (this device appears together on IAPMO listings as “IPS Kalyxx/ScaleRX”).

 

The report covers scale-reduction performance on heating elements.

  • Location: Manufacturer’s laboratory in Prešov, Slovakia (witnessed by IAPMO personnel Robert Schut)

  • Scope: Determine the reduction of limescale deposit on water-heater heating elements using the manufacturer’s comparative protocol

Test Setup

Four parallel 50-litre tanks (45 litres of water each):

  • Line 1: Stainless-steel heating element, untreated

  • Line 2: Stainless-steel heating element + IPS Kalyxx

  • Line 3: Copper heating element, untreated

  • Line 4: Copper heating element + IPS Kalyxx

Water was exchanged multiple times daily (≈120 litres/day on weekdays) to simulate use. Average conditions:

  • Hot water temperature ≈ 65.2 °C (65.0–65.5 °C)

  • Cold water temperature ≈ 17.2 °C

  • Hardness ≈ 17.9 °dH (17.51–18.06 °dH)

At the end of the test, the scale was mechanically scraped from the elements and weighed.
