At Tankless Pros AZ and Water Heater Pros, our story begins over a century and a half ago with a commitment to quality craftsmanship that continues to define us today. Founded in 1856 by Franz Johann Fehn, a Bavarian immigrant who settled in the burgeoning German community of College Point, New York, our roots trace back to WM. F. Fehn & Son, Inc.—a family-owned plumbing and heating business that served the industrial growth of the era.

Franz arrived in the United States in the early 1850s and established his plumbing enterprise amid College Point's transformation from farmland to a thriving suburb, fueled by innovators like Conrad Poppenhusen. Over generations, the business passed to his sons, including William Frances Fehn, and later to his grandson, Sidney Melbourne Fehn, who formalized the company in 1925, focusing on reliable installations and expansions into areas such as water heaters and steam boilers.

By the mid-20th century, the firm had grown, with branches in St. James, Long Island, and its original College Point location at 212 Thirteenth Street (now part of modern 13th Avenue after Queens' street renumbering). However, operations in New York ceased after 1960, when the Fehn family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona.

Sid started his own plumbing business in 1979 in Scottsdale, Arizona. As mentioned above, Sid's great-grandfather started a plumbing business in 1856 in New York.
