No Hot Water

NO HOT WATER MAY BE A SIMPLE FIX

A gas tankless still needs electricity for the control board and igniter. If the display is blank or the water suddenly goes cold, start with power. In the Phoenix Valley, the next usual cause is hard-water scale.

Try this first

Read the display.

 

If you see an error code, write it down and check the owner’s manual. Most quality tankless units tell you what failed.

Restore power.

Check the breaker in the panel. If it tripped, flip it fully off, then back on.

​

• If the unit is on a GFCI outlet, press Reset.

• If it plugs into the wall, unplug it, wait 60 seconds, and plug it back in.

• If it is hardwired, check the disconnect switch near the unit and make sure it is on.

 

That reset clears a surprising number of lockouts.

• If it has power and still no hot water, it likely needs a flush.

  Arizona water is hard. Mineral scale inside the heat exchanger is the most common reason a tankless stops heating well. That is a descaling service — not something to guess at on the gas connections.

 

If the breaker or GFCI trips again right away, stop. That is an electrical fault, not a reset problem.
