Family Trade Since 1856
Tankless Water Heater Installation in Phoenix - Scottsdale & Surrounding Area
Our Heritage: Six Generations in the Trade, Since 1856

Tankless Pros Az and Water Heater Pros come from a family plumbing trade that began in 1856 — before the modern storage water heater even existed.

That year, Bavarian immigrant Franz Johann Fehn settled in College Point, Queens, and opened the shop that became WM. F. Fehn & Son. College Point was turning from farmland into a factory village around Conrad Poppenhusen’s rubber works. Streets were being paved. Gas and water were being run to houses for the first time. A plumber arriving in 1856 was not remodeling finished homes. He was piping a town as it was being built.

The dedicated household water heater came later. The Fehn shop was already on the job when the first automatic tanks arrived in American houses.

The trade passed to Franz’s sons, including William Frances Fehn, and then to his grandson Sidney Melbourne Fehn. In 1925, Sidney formalized the company and steered it toward the new household equipment of the age:
water heaters, steam boilers, and the systems that joined them. By mid-century, the firm still worked from 212 Thirteenth Street in College Point and from a branch in St. James, Long Island.

In 1961, the family closed the New York shops and moved the trade to Scottsdale. New climate. Different water. Different codes. Same work.

That Southwest chapter continues today under Tankless Pros Az in Phoenix and Water Heater Pros in Sacramento — now in its sixth generation from Franz Fehn’s shop.

Today, that legacy lives on
Sid was twenty years old and already a product of the family trade — on the job in his father’s commercial plumbing business by age twelve. What held his attention then still holds it now: the water heater. It is the appliance that fails in the night, fights Arizona’s hard water every day, and sits at the intersection of fuel, venting, code, and how a household actually lives.

Sid built the companies around that one job. Tankless Pros Az and Water Heater Pros do not treat water heaters as a sideline. They specialize in them — gas tankless, traditional tank, and ENERGY STAR heat-pump (hybrid) systems — because focusing on one trade is how you stay current, buy better equipment, and install it correctly the first time.

Traditional tank-style heaters are still the system in more than nine out of ten American homes. Gas tankless units deliver endless hot water and a smaller footprint. Heat-pump hybrids can use far less electricity than a standard electric tank — ENERGY STAR estimates about 70% lower energy cost for a typical household versus a conventional electric tank. The right choice depends on the house, the water, the fuel, and the budget — not on whatever is easiest to sell.

Sid has walked water-heater factory floors and still attends industry trade shows to stay ahead of new products and design changes. Technicians are manufacturer-certified for professional installation, service, and repair. Because the companies buy quality units by the truckload, customers get contractor-line equipment — Navien, Rinnai, Bradford White, Rheem, and American Standard — at prices most general plumbers cannot match.

The next generation now leads the shops Sid built to the standard he spent nearly five decades setting.

In Phoenix, his daughter Victoria manages Tankless Pros Az, working alongside family members Matthew, Andrew, and Adam, and a crew the family treats as its own. In Sacramento, Water Heater Pros is led by Steve and Christina (Chrissy), with the same approach and the same respect for the customer. Sid’s product judgment, supplier relationships, and nearly fifty years in the trade remain behind every job.

His rule has not changed: when it is time for a new water heater, you should pay a fair price for the best equipment that belongs in your home.

What Most Phoenix Homeowners Don’t Hear Until the Tank Fails
Arizona water is hard. A conventional tank that might last 15 years somewhere else often dies here in 8–12.
That’s why we don’t grab “whatever’s on the truck.” Our Phoenix warehouse is stocked with units chosen for this climate, this water, and the way Valley homes actually run hot water.

You get the system that fits your house — family size, budget, and how many showers hit at 6:30 a.m. If a straightforward tank is the honest answer, that’s what we install. We won’t talk you into tankless to pad a ticket.

The crew that shows up is manufacturer-certified, not a rotating list of general plumbers. They protect floors, explain the job in plain English, and leave the space clean.

Every new water heater installation includes a 3-year workmanship guarantee. We want to earn your business.
If you bring us a written quote for the same model and the same installation, we’ll beat that by 5% or more.
